Theeeyre Heeere! Cheap RC Flying Saucers

Has anyone seen or bought one of these new budget rc flying saucers? They fly completly wireless and seem to hover quite nicely. I saw one used on the Tom Green show a few months back and searched the net but found nothing. Tonight Dave Letterman was showing this years new toys and brought out one of these things which amazed the crowd. It really seems to simply be a plastic saucer frame with a single propeller underneath to give it lift. These things are now all over ebay 'just type in RC flying saucer" After reading the description it seems that it has a tendincy for foward flight and you can change directions by easing on the throttle and it will turn at which point you increase the throttle to proceed in that direction but I saw it hovering at ground level as well.. I cn see on ebay that are at least 3 diffeent clones of this same toy all having the same mechanincs and look but very different controllers and bases. I wonder who had the first or best models. Seems that these things are destined to be the next big thing. Look for them at a kiosk near you... lol.

Of course the next question is how small can we get these things?

Awesome, I thought it had proportional throttle though? And it was slightly banked so it flew forward? Also in that pic it shows a controller with like an antenna, not IR? Damn I'm confused

all the write-ups i've read claim proportional corntrol so i dunno. perhaps a 2 or 3 step throttle? hard to say without having one to examin. Most of the models ive seen are ir controlled and like the video use a controller that looks like a star trek phaser, i understand you must always keep it pointed a certain way to maintain good signal. Your right about the pic I got off of ebay. That is actually one of the many 'clones' out there.. perhaps they use an antenna system of some sort. I wonder which gives the best range?

the ir would suck in sun light or any to much light causethe light would cancel out the ir.....oh yah if u look cloose in some parts of the video you can see the beam... i leaned about how bad ir is with a thing called rumble robots they are ok and the are pretty fun for a while but then to much light ruins the fun cause you loose control or you cant shoot your laser
