No, but I run a 3-cell Zap (cells in the belly) and it's fine. I did do a 4 cell twin engine Zap one time, and held one of the motors to see if the other was turning fast. As soon as I grabbed on to one of the motors, the current draw was so great, that one of my little black chips on my PCB glowed bright orange, and the car stayed in forward all the time. (unless you pulled a battery) I switched the forward and reverse, just so I could have a forward only dragracer, but then that burned out. I think it was due to the extra motor. Too great of draw on the PCB. Oh yeah, when I put the 4th battery in there, it began giving me interferance with the rado signal, my reception was crap.
But like I said, my 3 cell car is great. I ran 3 simulated 1/4 mile runs (20 foot 7 inches) and averaged 2 seconds.

weird,
i have a yellow cobra dual cell zz, a dual cell silver accord bit,
and a 3 cell custom cobra with a bit pcb. all 27Mhz.
none have range/steering/forward/reverse problems..
double check your connections..maybe there's a short when you put the pcb back into the chasis..it's a tight fit when using multiple cells, so a wire could contact something on the pcb or another wire.
try running it with the pcb hanging off the side.

Maybe you should take 'em out and use std bit/zip batteries. Also, like he said above, check your connections.
I have used my 3-cell Zip for quite a while now, and had no problems (as long as I can get traction).
