bad luck
ok well i am painting my civic gun metal. well i need to put a coat of black down to fix my windows and the paint didnt grip. so i sent a hour cleaning it. then i scuffed it and it worked fin . i masked the windows and put a couple coats of gun metal down. and it got messed up. so i went out and bought primer , sanded the body down and primersed it. tommarow i am getting more gun metal and try again. on a good note the gun metal worked great on my chasis peices and i am clearing them now plus my wheels are now black and i am clearing those also. i will post pics of my chasis tonite. but i dont have a couple parts at the moment. i might get those dis week.

Did you use Tamiya spray paints? I heard they're the best for plastic stuff. Boy do I wish I had a LHS that sells Tamiya paints.
Speaking of gunmetal, yeah, I really like that color. I was thinking of a darker gun metal / smoke color for my Skyline since it'll easily match the ultra-black windows.

Some putty on the scratches should do the trick.

Hmmm...its best to stick to one particular brand of paint. Anyways, its weird how the primer can get affected by that "something".
Anyways, from what I remember...
Lacquer > Enamel > Acrylic
- which means it is okay to put enamel over lacquer and acrylic over enamel and lacquer. But it will be disastrous if lacquer went over enamel and acrylic...you should be able to understand hopefully. Correct me if I'm wrong because I haven't painted anything for almost a year already.
I've used Krylon primer before and it is one of the most durable primers for plastic I have ever seen - The paint I was using (Deltacoat Acrylic) would not go on well on the plastic (especially the bright colors), but after a nice, solid coat of Krylon primer the paint sticks magically. I never even sprayed a finish coat on the model and you can't notice any fade on it. This is like almost three years ago.
However, I don't play with the model and it is kept indoors. Also, I find the Krylon primer to be quite thick. Deltacoat Acrylic paints are cheap, but they are very hard to get into milky-like consistency therefore aren't suitable for airbrushing.
