controller range boost
I have the initial D set and I can't find anything between the parts L3 and R9. But I found the range limiting thing in the chassis. I was wondering that any of you guys who own the initial D set have the same config too; not crippling thing in the remote but one in the car. Gah! Now I have to find a solder to unsolder the evil thing.

I've got the initial D set and relized the same thing, I didn't feel like compromising my pcb... yet, so what I did for mods was: - 24 awg solid copper wire antenna on pcb, about 7" in length
Telescopic antenna on controller
With this I achieved 25' inside haven't tried outside yet.

Just curious;
how would you rate the difficulty of installing the telescoping antenae? I have excellent scale modelling skills but I'm never learned a lot about electronics (thats why I'm hoping the Bit can show me something).
Also, 7"??? 7 inches is like 6 times the height of the car thus doesn't it seem very odd and I believe if its bent away from the center of gravity, the car will tip over.
Heh, right now my max range is at 5 feet indoors and amazingly, 7 feet indoors at school; (when I'm bored of course and when the teacher won't hear the noise e.g. movie, everyone's busy doing classwork etc.)

Installing the antenna on the controller really wasn't difficult at all and
Bit Char-g Motors has a simple to understand walk-through.
As for the antenna on the pcb, let me clarify that it's not all outside, the entire length is actually closer to 6" (2" are burried in the car only 4"+ is visible on the outside).
Depending on your set-up ie; motor, suspension... ect. you shouldn't have a problem tipping over.
