well im starting to make a lot of progress with my slot car engine bit... i decided to use the bit chassis, this way i wont have to fiddle with the steering... the only issue is the motor.. it will not quite fit inside the chassis, so i will be mounting it in the body at an angle.. my only worry is that the magnets from the engine will throw off my steering.. so far i have mounted the rear axle from the slot car in my bit...i basically cut out the middle of the rear of the chassis to allow for the big gear to pass through.. (i will post pics later.. i slightly drilled out the area where the old axle was mounted to account for the larger size axle (diamater of the metal axle is slightly larger than the bit axle)it now spins freely... i had though about extending the chassis to sink it all inside.. and i still might do it...this engine would work great inside a zip zap.. now the only question is where im gonna put the batterys.. well heres the battery i plan on using..
its a radioshack cordless phone battery, if this dosent fit right i might have to split up the cells, to place them better inside the bit...i might get 2 of them so i can use 4 cells.. the more voltage this motor gets the better.. i also will be stopping at the hobby store to get some new silicone tires for the rear. the ones on it now are all cracked up and shinny (no grip at all) i will try to get some pics up in the next day or two.. i have been taking tons of them.. its just a matter how they turn out.
