i found that tweaking the spring is actually a BAD idea... i've had tons of steering problems if i mess with the spring... so i bent it back as good as it gets, but it's still not perfectly straight... i hear that the double steering spring helps a LOT for fixing the radii... i've had the same problem, but never had an extra spring to fix it.
to fix the understeer, and to counteract the strength of the double springs, you may want to try REMs, or an extra steering magnet...
understeer is not my main issue... spinning out is... so i usually use harder tires up front to reduce steering...
