I started with a lexan HO slot car body from Scale Racing, of course it had all kinds of flares and skirts on it because by the nature of vaccum forming, the material doesn't curve under the edges so, I did alot of filling in and extenting the sides and curving the front and back under. Also with the extended chassis mod, I was able to lower the chasis height by .100" so the body would sit much lower and that's what gives it, it's more scale like appearance. Be careful if you try the HO bodies, they tend to sit much lower , I found that the cabin back designes like the Ferrari work much better than say, a GTP stye. I also have a '69 Boss Mustang which I'll do for my next project.
