1. Yes, soft tires are much better than stock ones, it just depends what you wanna do with them (i.e. power sliding, or dragging, track racing, etc). This is the same with real-life cars.

2. The Tomy 3.0 is notably problematic. This is because it was meant for Bit Racers. These in America are called Hot Wheels KIT Racers. You could turn the metal contact on the red tab a little, bend the metal contacts in the motor bay a bit forward, or clean your car off. Also try replacing the batteries in your remote with brand new ones.
