I thought they put the weak motor in the car because the new colored bodies are weak looking. They figured they could cheap out on the customers (since so many cars are returned everyday). Think about it...the motor is cheaper, the colored plastic is cheaper than painting and then glazing it, the antennas are shorter (causing them to spend less on materials).
Next thing the box will say LXX on it because those guys had left over boxes to sell to Tomy at a discount. haha

The 1.6 motor isn't weak. It's a high torque motor. It's great for beginners, and great for high-control "power" setups.
I like the new MS Sport. It's obviously aimed at a different (younger?) market. It's not as complete as the full car sets, but it's still a great way to get a genuine MicroSizer. I'm sure some kids will like colored translucent bodies.
If that doesn't float your boat, fine. But don't say Hobbico is trying to "cheap out" their customers. If that were true, the thing would be a clone in a MicroSizer box. This is the real product, with a more powerful motor than even original Bit Char-Gs.
And BTW, the antennas are NOT shorter.
