Well, it aint easy unless you're good with a soldering iron.(that's why I take my cars to my mechanic)
The pcb off of just about any clone will do. I recomend a panther or a precious, cost is average $12-$15, but you also get a parts car for your bits. A stock zip with a dks 2.6zz or 2.8zz will scream but even if you add a dual bat to the zip which can be hidden in the chassis it will boost it up to bit speed.
If all you care about is speed and tracks don't come into play that much then by all means don't bother modding and stick with a bit.
