Mylar is the exact material i was thinking for a skirt. Mine will be made of 1/32 balsa and/or the foam stuff from meat trays. The plan is to have a single motor, possibly geared to a small home made fan, with 33% (that is typical for full size craft) ducted under the hull. Steering will be by multiple rudders behind the fan. More details and drawings to come after i get home after exams. In the mean time, here is a pic of my own-design larger craft. A note... The thrust is a Graupner 550 spinning a 8-4 prop, the lift is a Graupner 400 spinning a 6-3 prop. The 400 could be run at half throttle and still lift the craft, and that was with 2 speed controls and 2 6-cell sub-C battery packs. The skirt is just some 1/2" foam taped around the sides because i hadnt made a flexible nylon skirt yet. It worked fine on flat stuff... Anyway, more later.
