New antenna...less range?

Ok I just recently replaced the stock antenna on my Microsizer/BCG to a slightly longer wire I bought at an electronics store. Well when I removed the stock and stripped the end on the new wire I noticed it was not copper wiring which I thought (and hoped) that it was. Instead it was aluminum (I believe anyway....it doens't say anywhere on the package). So my question is this, will this have any major/noticable effect on range at all? If so should I just go find some copper wire and replace it again?

And I haven't been able to really test it yet because my controller broke (one of the stupid little button switchs busted so now it perpetually turns right...ugh) but thankfully I have on coming in from Hobbico. (Free of charge more kudo's for Customer Service! Woohoo! ) Anywhom, any help/suggestions on this would be much appreciated.
