They help steering because they are much more magnetic than other magnets and when the electromagnet on each side starts being a magnet( no better way to say it) it will attract more and therefore make your turn way tighter...

to put it in you have to open up your cchassis..(where the pcb is) and under the pcb where the front part is there is a screw unscrew that take out the rod with magnet put in new magnets and put it back together...
