Actually, it looks like one of the coils isn't wrapped as neatly or as tightly as the other! I checked a friends that doesn't like turning in the opposite direction and found the same thing so It looks like the coils themselves may be the culprit. I'll try rare earth magnets and see if that fixes the problem.
