If it has a pink endcap your cars motor is rated 38000 rpm so unless your motor is wrecked your car should be pretty fast
as for the battery you can get longer runtime ni-mh batts or like in my car a 3.7v 50mah li-ion which increases your speed amazingly you can get them from a lot of places but you have to know how to solder.
