Absolutely. Not only that, Nightmare Before Xmas introduced the world to a skewed, dark, and highly stylized art direction that is still being copied today. You can see this same art direction in Edward Scissorhands and Beetlejuice. Though it seems to work at it's best in animated features like NBC and Corpse Bride.

Do you collect this sort of stuff? I have a friend that has a "museum" room in his house where he has props and puppets from all sorts of cool stuff. Chicken Run, The Noid from the old Pizza Hut commercials, Pillsbury Dough Boy, Even one of the Terminator chrome skulls. I can spend hours in their examining all his cool stuff.
