ok well first of all drifting is for front engine rear drive cars. you can drift around with super slick tires with awd, but it's real drifting (even tho it's easier). there are many ways to inatate a drift some are: e brake, brake, down shift, let off throttle, or simply power ur car into one ( thats what we do with xmods). during an awd drift as you know all the wheels have broke traction and ur momentum and a little grip from ur tires is pulling you through the turn. now for real drifting, after breaking traction in the rear wheels they will down shift for additional torque to keep the rear wheels spining. you apply more power to increase the drift angle, less power and more counter steer to lessen it. the reason real cars can drift better rwd then us is because of the limited slip differentials they use. the lsd keep the rear wheels spininig at the same rpm, but dont get this with a locked diff, a lsd can be overpowered and does slip abit. the wheel toward the side u r counter steering toward is spining a tad faster to pull the car into a deeper angle. if you try to drift in an open diff car you will most likley not get a good drift angle and if you do the wheel spining faster will pull you into a dount. also many drift cars get kits or modify there steering to increase the angle at which their wheels are turn, meaning their cars can drift with a greater sideways angle. also the front wheels are spining at any times, the idea is to keep them spining by pointing them in straight in the direction of the turn and have ur rear end out to the side burning rubber.

now over steer is when u enter a turn and ur rear wheels loose traction and are ur rear end is thrown into the turn, pretty simialr to a drift if you can control it, but will most of the time make ur car do a 180. understeer is the opposite where ur front tires loose traction and ur rear wheels are pushing u straight forward through the turn and ur front wheels are skiding causing you to make a wide turn, commen on high speed turning.

for drifting u want ur car to be as light as possible, that means more power to wieght ratio so more avaible power that can keep ur wheels spining. awd is the easyest to "drift" with but if u want to be more realistic somehow find a lsd for ur rear drive car or a tightened ball diff will work too.

any more questions?
