Bingo kehern15, you just confirmed what may have gone wrong with my Austin Martin DB5... Yeah, I had the same problem!
Before I initially placed the body on the chassis on my newly purchased zz, I tested the motor and the steering to make sure it worked properly. It all seemed to work fine until I placed the body on the chassis (which fit more snuggly then any of my other bodies). I noticed that the steering was a louder than my previous test and it did not want to turn to the left. Upon a closer inspection, I noticed that on the front tab where the body locks on, is pressed back, hitting the steering pinion, stopping it from moving. Unfortunately, after I fully discovered and tested my theory the steering conked out all together.
I suppose it’s just a rare defect and I'm gonna replace it tonight with another Austin martin DB5. But I wonder if this is a common problem with all the Auston Martin DB5's and Sting Ray's where the body fits very snugly?
