In my case it would be using such a bar to prevent backward flips. Two of my MTs are setup to do climbing and keeping the truck upright is what I need to do. Perhaps "wheelie", a term I myself have used for this modification, is a misnomer because the intended use is to keep from doing a wheelie. My other three MTs are not slow-geared and will readily do wheelies both forward and reverse, so there is no need for a bar on them. It's all in what you want to do with your MT--each to his/her own.
I think Hummer_Man07 has a very useful and well-described mod many will find helpful.
