No, that H-bridge driver IC is made for a digital circuit to drive its inputs and a motor directly connected to pins on its output, along with a clock pulse generator which sets the PWM frequency. What you need is a mosfet driver IC which steps up the voltage to drive the gates of the more powerful FET's.

I'm not sure if he took "gate driving V(GS)" into consideration or not, but if he didn't, then yes, it's more powerful, if he did, then it's about the same. I used 4905's and 3205's however.
