Yes, Lithiums are VERY hard to come by! Sanya and Panasonic will not sell to you direct. They will tell you to contact an OEM who makes packs. They will not sell to you either unless you buy a pack from them that uses those batteries and then you need to pay 3 times as much and tear the pack apart to get the batteries.
Lithium batteries are strictly governed by the US because Lithium is a controlled waste product and raw cells can explode if charged wrong. Battery pack OEMs must sign agreements that the pack has a protection circuit to prevent this from happening.
So, us XMOD suppliers must find sources other than US to purchase Lithiums (China, Thailand, etc.). The problem there is you must buy in quantities of 1000+ or they will not even take the time of day to talk to you.
