Dont bother going cheap, cause you will hate a cheap non propo car and end up with a Z anyway.

I myself own 1/10 nitro and buggies and yeah they might go fast, but its all relative to size. I own a highly modified mini Z which has a maximum speed of 84km/h, now try controlling a 1/28 car at those speeds. 30km/h is still VERY fast for a mini Z, and on small track that's too fast. Proportional control is just as necessary on a 1/28 car as a 1/10 IMO.

There are only a couple of 1/28 propo cars on the market....

Xmods

Pros

-Relatively cheap
-4wd (only when AWD kit is purchased) with 4 wheel independant suspension.
-small range of mods.
-you can change the weight distribution.
-bolt on body kits are great for ricers.

Cons

-16 step throttle.
-Errrr you get what you pay for
-Noisy
-Slow
-Big turning circle
-Not as refined as a Z
-Weak, break easily

Mini Z

Pros

-KO-Propo electronics w/512 step ESC
-MR01 is almost as cheap as the Xmod now and kills it in stock form
-Quick
-Quiet
-Fantastic display quality bodies
-HUGE AFTERMARKET parts range....i.e. like15 different brands.
-2wd fun
-Highly efficient non bevel gear drive train

Cons

-Semi Independant rear suspension

The Z looks better on paper and out performs the Xmod....But grab a bearing set, a ball diff and an upgrade motor/FETS/TURBO, some wider wheels and better tyres, carbon fibre H-Plates, spring sets etc. and the car will just get better and better.
