suspension tightening

I had already thrown those little plastic tube things that come on a brand new xmod's axles when I read that you can use them to slide over the steering knucles knobs to tighten up the steering a bit. So I started looking for something else that works. The answer was right there at Radio shack.

They sell this package that contains all sorts of heat shrinkable plastic tubing. It's not very expensive. I don't remember the exact price because I bought it a while back for use with my 1/10 scale cars. Anyway, in that package there are several ones of the correct diameter to use for the xmod. One is perfect for the little knobs that go into the tie rod. Another is perfect for tightening up where the steering knuckle goes into the lower a arm. I just slide this tubing on and cut the excess off so I have the correct length. Then I take it off and put just a very small amount of glue on the parts that I'm going to slide the tubing onto so it doesn't come off. This worked very well.

WARNING: while this tightens up the steering and front suspension considerably, this does require a little bit of shaving plastic with an exacto knife. You do have to enlarge some of the openings just slightly to get a proper fit. So make sure you work very slowly so you don't enlarge anything too much.
