Barry, my only concern with the way you have done your modification is that when reverse is chosen via the remote you are now providing conflicting signals between the pcb and motor. When forward is chosen the pcb provides positive through the yellow and negative through the blue. When reverse is chosen these are reversed and positive is now blue and negative is now yellow much like a power window circuit in a car. Your modification is running voltage through the ground path when reverse is chosen and I suspect it might cause damage down the road. Another thing I noticed in your post is that you are unsure of the improvement in performance. With the yellow wire cut from the pcb there is no mistaking the improvement. I suspect that the pcb is interfering with your mod. No kidding, this thing will literaly spin tire from a dead stop with red motor and gears. The pcb is the weak link in these cars as it offers too much resistance in the power circuitry which deprives the motor. The idea of the mod is to bypass the power circuit of the pcb by removing the yellow wire from it. Hope this doesn't sound like I am being critical but I would hate to see you ruin the pcb. Worst case with the way I modded it is that you reconnect the yellow wire to the pcb. If you feel up to a little experiment give it a shot and see what happens. I know I am curious.
