To make the "U" clips, I took a thin strip of metal, and bent it over a spare axle so I knew it would fit. I cut off the extra metal, leaving one side longer so I could superglue or epoxy it to the chassis.

The car I did this on still had good axle clips, this mod was mainly to guard against the upper part of the chassis wearing the axle hole larger (can happen if your axle is full of deep scratches). A totally smooth axle should take nearly forever to cause any serious wear.

The T-bar is also made of scrap metal, actually two wire connector terminals soldered to a "L" shaped metal strip.
This would be screwed onto the chassis using the two holes under the motor.
