The bearings really are worht it...it makes your car much quieter and you will actually feel the difference in how the car runs. As for the balck stuff. I had that happen at first to...but the reason for that , i think, is that the factory put a lubricating grease on and in those yelloe plastic bushings. When you get the bearings, i would suggest you de-grease them, then lubricate them with powdered graphite. I got mine at home depot for like $2. Oce you de-grease them and put the powdered graphite in them...you hardly ever get that black crap in your bearings. I also really like the fact that your car is much quieter and just sounds super smooth
