SUCCESS!

Well, after a few hours of labor my x-mod is running pretty decent. I wish I could tell you what was wrong, but I don't know. One thing is, when I first tried my x-mod, I tried the 11-tooth stage 2 combo with bearings for running it my first time. It ran pretty decent I suppose. Then I tried the 10 and then 9 tooth motors and had terrible acceleration and top speed. I don't suspect that two motors in a row were bad but it could have happened. Anyway, I took apart the rear drivetrain and:
Repacked the differential with hobby grease. It was a PITA getting the axle back in correctly for some reason but it was worth the extra service for the dif.
Blasted out all dust with the air gun.
Checked all bearings, added some grease (since they aren't sealed, which sucks IMO) and blasted it with some light air-gun sprays.
I changed the motor and repositioned all wires so they could not be pinched.
I also moved the battery compartments forward to prevent any shorts with the heatsink. Moving the weight forward a little may take some weight off the rear, which isn't bad IMO but it can affect the car's handling.
Reinstalled the crystal, with the prongs slightly bent.
I took apart the front area and serviced the bearings there too. They seemed to be working fine.
I also added dry teflon lube to the moving parts of the steering and all swinging and friction parts of the suspension. This stuff does not attract dust but it can somewhat tack to itself before drying and slow down certain parts. One time I used too much and it froze one of my springs and kingpins on my mini-z. Be careful if you ever use this stuff or it can make things worst.
Reassembled everything and it ran faster than ever before. 2 new problems, is range and stuttering, but I suspect both are related to the short range of the x-mod. I will try pushing in the 9v battery with some cardboard. Does anyone know how long these last? The steering does not stick anymore but I'm very disappointed with the turning radius (I was racing in a cubicle area building). Other than that, the x-mod is starting to prove its worth. For $50 plus parts its not bad for something that can somewhat hang with my mini-z.
