I have a kinda sorta same story, I was trading in my skyline for a new one (wires "broke"
) but anyways i left my heatsink on it. When i went to get it the guy wouldn't let me touch it so I was telling him "no, take this screw off here" then eventually I got fed up and shut up. Then he finally got to the heatsink and pulled the motor off with it and said "oh i just disconnect it right?". I just shrugged my shoulders and took what he gave me. I got my heatsink back and a brand new motor. I felt it was my reward for putting up with the maniac. lol
