Hehe, what I was refering to by "rolling bricks" is that to me, that's what all of the SEs look like LOL -

Anyhow, yes, that's were the additional weight would come from... all of the additional components needed for the new SEs. Try this out: pick up one of your old Zaps, and then one of the new SEs... the SEs are a lot heavier, which of course would make them slower with the same gear/motor setup.

Also, something else that I don't like about the design (although I guess that it can't be helped, due to the room required by the additional components), is that they seem quite top-heavy. Even though my SEs go slower than my original Zaps, they flip much easier than the old ones. Hehe, if it weren't for the proportional steering, my new SEs would be upside down more than they would be upright on all four wheels LOL!
