The diagram above illustrates the concept, but isn't really useful as a how-to guide. You cannot simply apply heat shrink or anything using heat w/ the filaments without burning them up. Especially if you cut up some decoration and used those strands. (cheap plastic hair)

THE FIBER OPTICS STORE for info and more. I have used their 3mm single strand "end glow" fibers and illuminator kit they sell w/ LED for headlamps and it's cool, but kinda $$$ for the same basic look 2 LEDS give you.
