I don't think so because the force of FRICTION between the tires and the floor will only change if (1) the tires are made of a different material, or (2) if the weight of the car changes. The PRESSURE applied on the floor by the tires would increase as the area decreased, and vice versa, but they should grip the same.

I just tested it by rolling the rear wheels. They roll in a giant circle, so it's working! Add tape to the right side if car car tends to pull to the right; and tape to the left if it usually goes left. That should straighten it out.
