If you pick up a speed racer set you'll probably be disappointed with the bodies and you can't switch them with the replacement spec-2 bodies without some modifications.

A spec-2 handles better...

The stock gears on a z-car (yellow) are the same ratio as a stock bit (orange).

The red racing gears are different from any bit gears. For one thing, the pinion gear (the one right on the motor)...

I purchased a couple of those Hot Wheel's KIT racers which comes with the 2.6 motor. I noticed that the motor is a tad smaller than the 2.2 z-cars motor. I can't seem to get it to work in my z-car....
