Back in the day, BB stood for Ball Bearing, but in this case the Term "BB" is indeed used to describe the motor as having brass bushings, and not ball bearings. Do not be turn away from this motor...

Just loosen the tranny screws about 1/4 of a turn and see if that helps, also, chech the gear mesh, 9 outa 10 micro's fromthe factory have a tight mesh.
