yes, you need to remove the gears. Than carefully remove the gear and the brass hex on the SSMT shaft and transfer it to the ZZMT shaft.

basically, the wire is a paperclip bent to hold the shaft and shaft support together where the screw once went. The shaft is just a ZZMT central shaft, replacing the small one coming from the axle...
