Tips for quieting gears

Does anyone have tips on how to quiet the gears on a Bit?

My booster set is extremely loud, and I am curious as to whether or not I could remedy this.

(This applies for the stock gears and the 12:1 gears.)

epoxy your axle into place so theres no vibration. search on this. you will gain hamsterpower as well.

..i just put some clear tape in the middle of the axel prob. not as good as the epoxy but the back is more stable now...

OK, let me clarify.

Does anyone have any non-permanent ways to quiet the gears on a Bit?

I appreciate the epoxy method, but I'm looking for something less drastic.

squadron white

use putty, i used squadron white. i leave an axle in, then putty around it, wait a few minutes then cut down to the axle with a blade. let the putty harden, a little sanding and voila. good as new and you could still switch up the axles.

Bit FAQ #24

my pro is loud too. i even tried changing gears. shen gears are smoother and quieter. it worked on my reg ms but not my pro. has anyone done the putty thing to a booster? if it works on them them i'm doin it.

Namuna, thanks. I did read the FAQ previously. The "dry" selections I used didn't really help much. Baby powder worked the best, but the difference was marginal.

Any other suggestions? Someone suggested petroleum jelly, but that seems counterproductive.

this removes all gear noise... at least the grinding rattle from the transfer gear. And nobody else has tried this yet. i'm stumped.

My MS Pro has the same thing! A good way is to stick a small peice of a toothpick and tape it on. It is easily removable and works. i'll have to try it.

its not 100 permanent. its a pain to remove. but its more effective than any other method.

Hogjowlz,
I am having a hard time picturing your epoxy rear end mod. Can you post a pic or two? I am interested in quieting my gears and gaining a little more hp. Thanks. Also, how is your custom car enterprise coming along? I am interested in what you've got to offer. Let us all know. Thanks.:D
