What software are you using?

just the one that came with my digi cam I think it is called photo impressions 2000

You need to crop out the white background area. or if the white is the art board you will want you change the artboard size.

I am not sure where the white is coming from I cropped my picture?

That appears to be the original artboard that the image was on. You might have to shrink that, even MS Paint can handle that.
