Zombiebaby- Yes, the Epoch kit is totally ready to run. It includes a controller and charger. you just need batteries. 1 9v for the controller and 6 AA for the charger/base. They are lightyears above bits, in handling and speed.

The Spec1's which the speed racer set has less known mods and they can be harder to do. The only real mod for either Spec1 or Spec2 is adding more batteries. However i have a Spec1 with a Spec2 board in it, it is noticably quicker and better handling.

The Speed racer set has 2 bodies.

Spec2's are easier to put a 4cell battery pack in, and have adjustable wheelbases while the Spec1's are fixed wheelbase. Some Spec2 bodies may fit, with or without mods, not sure which though.

These are NOT like Bits when it comes to frequency. They are 27MHZ AM). They use actual crystals so you can have up to 6 (more if you buy crystals from the LHS) cars run on 1 frequency. This is #6 frequency. They fine tune the crystals so that like a 27.095 and a 27.200 will work and not interfere at all. Its like have many 27MHZ bits running together without interference! (just like 1/10th scale RC).
