So .. those H1 Hummers suck?

I'm really curious about those little H1 Hummers. I'm hearing mostly negative comments, although I've seen what appear to be the "real" ones and clones floating around. If the engine is hardwired in, is it a simple enough solder job to stick in something more powerful?
I'm intruigued by the idea of a bit that can drive over (relatively) rough surfaces. Especially after my success in charging my batteries in a generic Rayovac charger tonight. I took out two batteries from Bensus, charged them for a few minutes, and then followed a car all the way around the block. It still had charge and was driving just fine as I rolled back up to the front door. So something with more clearance and big knobby tires might r o c k that with a torquey enough motor.
If they're total crap I guess I'll pass, but if they're worth $15+$5 shipping I may have to buy one tomorrow.
Any thoughts?

I bought one. I wouldn;t say it's crap, but it ain't gold either. The H1 is too much fun to care, so it doesn't matter. I say get one in a different frequency then your other cars. At the very least you added to you collection.

Okay, cool. I have fun with my Bensu and there was a long thread about how violently revolting the entire brand apparently is. So, all I'm looking for is the hummer to be fun.
As long as it rolls around, awesome. And if it easily gets a 15-20 minute charge with the little dinky charger, I'll bet it will be an endurance marathon runner after a real Battery Charger session.
I might be ordering that little red number off ebay. Hmmm.
I want to make one with infrared LED and receptor like those battle tanks. That would be pretty nifty.

Habbi, did you get any of the 3.0 Hummers? Or did you get the normal model?

Habbi 02-08-2003 04:24 PM

I have the 3.0, or at least that's what they call it. About the same as a Tomy 2.6 I guess. It does hold a charge forever though and there is much joy smashing nto the smaller bits. Beware the H1 !! Ha ha ha....

The Hummers have nice looking bodies. Otherwise they suck. They are no better on carpet and "rough surfaces" than a regular clone. Sorry to say that I bought a set of 4.

If you want to run on the rug, get a Wild Char-G. Now, that's off-road fun!!
