Ok... so just a few questions
 

I have one zip zap and two bits and i was looking into getting a digiQ. Ok so if i really wanted to see if i could get a bit to drift which took way too much consentration and tuning. then i found out about the DigiQ and its proportional steering. I was just wondering if i could really drift with the AE86 (heheh Initial D :D) that i wanted to get from Sigma Automotive. Also i had another question, is the special controller (the blue one with the screen) really worth it if i want to hold study hall drift sessions? Two more, almost done, how long is the charge time on a digiQ and how long of a run time would everyone suspect on the stock AE86. one last question, would you think that it would be better to get the AE86 without the lights, or would you say that the cars with the lights would be better. if someone can answer any of these questions that would be great :D :D :D

I think the Trueno sounds great for you because you are into
drifting, and that particular car has the racing wheels.

Charge times are almost as long as the run time on DigiQs.
They take a little over 10 minutes to charge, and runtimes vary
between about 12 to 15 minutes depending on the car. If you
have 2 cars, you can play with one while the other is on your
charger.

The Special controller makes a very big difference in playing with
the car, especially in your case where you want to play with
drifting. Playing with the settings on the controller is considered
'digitally tuning' your car, much like how you swap out motors
and gears in the Bit Char-Gs to change the performance. It is
definitely worth getting this extra controller!

That's my opinions, I hope it's a little helpful. Personally I have
the NSX-R and a Cox Beetle, and the Special Controller. My next
car will be the Trueno :D

yes i have a tureno..and it's ssoo fun to drift. but you do need the special controller to drift because the stock settings on teh car isn't meant for drifting. but i don't know if the front racing wheels on a ae86 would make it harder to drift because arn't the wheels supposed teh make te car more stable or wahtever? soo drifting would mean that it's kinda spinning out/or something..and the racing wheels would kick in to help the car steer straight agian. well love drifting but with the code 3451...i had to mod it to 4451 because i wasn't getting enough speed into corners on my floor. "keal" drifts on teh table..very COOL!!!..i just wonder what setting your on keal? is it very esay to dift at low speeds without the racing wheels?

thank you very much guys. also i was wondering what the speed and range of these things are alon or compared to a zip zap or a bit. The palm pilot control looks cool for the DigiQ but i dont know if the range would be better or if it would be worse because you would have to point the palm right at the digi. thank you again for the advice. oh and also how loud are they incase i want to do some study hall drifting. they have to be about as loud if not less then a teenage girl talking about stupid stuff.

The range of the cars are really good indoors. At work I can
play in the conference rooms, which are about 50 feet across,
and it works that far, at least. However, outside in the sunlight,
the range is very poor... about 5 feet maybe. So in sunlight, the
range does go down a lot. When I'm playing indoors, I don't have to point the controller directly at the car if I'm playing on a
small racetrack, or on the desktop. But if the car goes 20 feet
away or more, I have to pretty much aim directly at the car.
There is an infrared booster that costs about $20.00 and attaches to the top of the Propo controllers, but I haven't read
about them or gotten one yet. That might help in sunlight, but I doubt it :)

The motors in the cars do make noise, even if you're crawling across the floor. It's not as loud as my Bit Char-G clones, but
it makes enough noise to where people might be bothered if
they're studying :(


Sengming, I don't have a perfect drift code yet, but I usually set
the code to about 4461 and that lets me do great circles around my coffee cups on the desk :D

Study in study hall....ha, ok thank you for the replay and i was just wondering what you think is the best place to buy them because i called all over town and i was gonna run to this place about 30 mins away before work, but it snowed quite a bit (no pun intened) so i didn't get a chance to run over. I would like to get it within a couple weeks if possible because i dont want to forget about it or anything. thanks for the answers to my questions.

DigiQ stuff from there, and my next order will probably be through
them, too :)

To answer the Question about speed and range, I have found that on fully charged batteries you can go about 35 feet inside, But it is decreased in sunlight to about 3 feet. The speed cant even be compared, it would be like racing a jet against a bicycle. The DigiQs are Fast!:cool: Go with the DigiQ-Rs because they have improved gaer boxes and batteries.:D

....so the main question, is there any way to get a AE86 R...because i really want the AE86 so that i can drift around like in initial D, it kinda sounds lame, but i just really want to try it out ya know. so the real question is, can i swap bodys from a R to the old AE86. oh and by the way, i really dont care about the lights or anything, also i have very clean floors so not alot of hair and dust is present on my floor. The AE86 Trueno is an "R" there are four in the series so far, NSX, Pitworks (both have lights), The Trueno and the RX7(both have the steering gimmkick.) They never made a Trueno until the R series, so there is no "old one". You can order it from Cosmo Games for $49.95 +shipping. I have one due to arrive on Thursday, I cant wait!;)

yea....i am getting my AE86 soon. maybe tommorow if my dad can get home early and we can go set up my debit card. i was just wondering keal, the prices at cosmo games are really good compaired to others. but i was just wondering how long it takes for the regular ground shipping? i can't wait to get it before i buy it let alone wait for it when it is in transit. meh!!! i can't wait.

I live in Hawaii, so I had Cosmogames ship the DigiQs to me through USPS Priority. I ordered on Jan 8, they shipped it out on Jan 9 and I got the box on Jan 13.

I would guess if you live in the continental US, it might get to you even faster! :)

PTink, I live in TN and I ordered two cars from Cosmo and one was sent UPS 3 day and the other was sent 2nd Day AIR UPS. I Think I paid $12 for 2nd Day Air UPS.
