BabyKiller 01-20-2003 03:18 PM

the problem with the 3.25:1 gearing is that there is not enough torque to get you going. and you need a long enough straight a way just to reach maxium speed. your better off pairing the r-spec motor to either 8.25:1 or 9.86:1 gearing.

actually i just double checked, there is no 3.25, did you mean to say 8.25?

BabyKiller 01-20-2003 08:20 PM

i have 8:25:1 wow it only takes like 2in to get full speed so whats the diff between it and like 12:1 but i love my lightblue gears they came with me car(speacial ed.)

Hey, does mix and matching the gears on the axle and the gear on the bit make a difference?? like orange and aqua or orange and blue???

strider_mt2k 01-21-2003 07:06 PM

I've always understood that they are sets, but hey, I'm sure someone has experimented.

powerhungry 01-21-2003 07:26 PM

I have.. i don't really notice any difference.. but for some reason i put the orange on the car and the green/aqua axle.. i guess it's all in my head.. =D makes me think i did something different. L0L

Powerhungry, I know its not on the subject, but whats a skyline history set?

powerhungry 01-23-2003 02:50 PM

it's a set that comes with an r34, r32 and old 2000gtr Skylines...

Vroomvroom 01-26-2003 04:06 PM

The main gear supposedly has the same number of teeth, so you wouldnt think there would be a difference, however all the sites say the gears can bind up when you do this /shrug

I like things to match hehe

the gears are actually 3.43:1 not 3.25:1 they're pretty fast tho once you get them to fit on your bit char-g

Impreza WR reX 02-01-2003 08:19 PM

I dunno what the ratio is, but I use the ZZ red gears, they work pretty well...

Vyrus 02-02-2003 08:57 PM

Why not get a 3.8L motor if you want speed? Aren't they the highest-revving available right now?
