The Rx can handle up to 5v, so four cells or anything on a 5V output voltage booster is the absoulte upper limit for voltage. As far as frying the motors - the hot winds tend to fry at higher voltages, but the higher resistance motors can take it. A 1.6 or 2.2 should be ok, with any motor over a 2.2 you are pushing your luck with three cells. Some pager type motors are actually designed for higher voltages (check www.didel.com ). It all depends on your objectives.
