Duel Cell Mod Wires
Ok im about to do a duel cell mod.. but i dunno what wires to use.. i would use the wires from my old bit but there 2 short. because Im doing the drag duel cell mod from QFM, u no the one with the drag tail thing.. I was thinking about using speaker wires from a stereo but those seem kinda thick.. so u got any suggestions i could get wires from, like from everyday iteams aroound the house?

You could probably use some cat 5 cable. That seems like it would be the right size.

cat 5 cable?

Cat 5 cables
Cat-5 [otherwise known as Category-5] cables are your basic ethernet cables, or cables used to connect multiple computers together thru NIC cards or RJ45 ports. U can take apart spare Ethernet cables, or go to RadioShack or Fry's Electronics and get the 100 ft Category-5 cable spools for under $30. I just picked mine up from RS. the cable has 4 twisted pairs [8 wires] of 24 AWG solid copper.
edit: I would highly recommend picking up one of the 100 ft spools. Unless u plan on making your own ethernet cables, you'll have a total of 800 ft of 24 AWG solid copper wires. A lot of the mods call for extra wiring. especially the antenna swap and the multi-cell mods. |
eh..anything besides cat-5's?

Do you have a extra telephonecord? The small wires in these cords are probably the same as the ones in a Cat5 cable.. Another sort of wires you can use is the ones in a headphonecord (the isolated) these are also very thin.
I used standard loudspeakercable (0,75mm). This is way to thick. I did not think about the thickness when doing the mod. Its not easy to hide the thick wires. There is also benefits by using a rather thick cable. The losses are smaller in a thick cable, but i really dont think it matter in this case.... |
actually telecomm wire is pretty thin. i dont like it for these cars.
do you have an old computer laying around? any old toys, stereos, vcrs or other things with buttons on them that wont ever be used again anyhow? |
would soldering wire work for it?it kinda thin and thick at the same time..but im not sure if it would cunduct electricity that good
|
I just cut up on of my old console controllers(ie playstation) and used the small wires in there.
|
telephone wire works great, you might also be able to buy the cat 5 by the foot, i thnk i payed 30cents a foot!!!
|
soldering wire?? what you mean??

That's about how much i paid...i just bought 100 ft of cable :P |
Now why on earth is the kid gonna drop $30 for 800 feet of the stuff?!? He needs about 6 inches. Go to a hardware store and buy a small spool of like 10 yards of insulated 24 gauge wire for like $3.

no more need, i took apart a old portable radio hahaha lots of wires !!:D
