Nikko iRacer
 

I saw the Nikko iRacers at Toys R' Us for $30, are they worth the investment? It says on the box that they are infrared and proportional controlled. Anyone has experience with them? The Mini Cooper looks pretty sweet.

They are bad impressions of the digi-q(which has a forum here) they arent neccessarily clones but they are very slow in comparison to the digi. I've heard that they are faster than bit char-g's but i dunno.

I had races last night and a friend of mine brought him it was slow and the steering not paportional and they cant b modified they may look neat but I wouldnt suggest anybody 2 buy 1. Get a microsizer or clone if you had 2 a zipzap before 1 of them.

.... and I might add that it takes about 8 - 10 minutes to charge the car up. If you're impatient, like me, I wouldn't get it.

Iracers, and DigiQ
 

I dont know about the IRacer, but the DigiQ is far better than even my two cell bit. They are fully propor, and have performace traits that are programed into each car making them perform slightly different. This means a SUBARUA WRX performs differently than a NISSAN SKYLINE. Very nice.

I've got one of each (iRacer & DigiQ).

DigiQ is faster and better quality than the iRacer.
Both are waaayyy faster than a Bit, but are much harder to control! Very frustrating! :mad:
Both are more expensive (especially DigiQ)than Bits/MS.
And like other people have said, you can't really customize them like Bits/MS.
The bodies are sweet though! :p

If you want to race, get a Bit or MS.
If you want something to play around with then go ahead and get one, after all, the goal is to have fun! :D :D :D

Special Controller
 

Do you have the special controller? I have heard that with it they become very easy to control.

I bought my digiQ for 39 dollars with the special controller, which is only about 10 dollars more than a microsizer. At least locally.

8-10 minutes to charge? Non-proportional steering? If anyone has an iRacer with these characteristics, take them back for an exchange or refund. I've had mine for a month. It consistently takes 1.5 - 2 minutes to charge, then runs for 12 - 15 minutes. I can tell you that the steering is fully proportional, as is the throttle. I'm not saying that they are better than, or even as good as, Digi Qs. Just trying to let the truth be known. Yes, the Mini body is cool, however, I'd have to agree that if you want to race, look elsewhere. Nikko has yet to break from its reputation as toy, rather than hobby racer, maker. It is a great toy, though, for simple entertainment, or for someone who doesn't really care about brand reputation. I'd have bought a Zip Zap, but since they've started advertising them, none of the local Radio Shacks have ever had any in stock.
