Mock Rotary engine under clear hood.

hey guys, i was making my show car and i found a unexplioted part of the chassis/body: under the actual hood. I made a Aluminum base and glued parts to make it look like a rotary engine for the clear rx7 i am making.

here's just the engine

here it is in the car

The beige engine on silver background looks kinda bad, maybe recolor it to have more contrast, and paint that silver stuff black, to simulate space between engine components. Also, post pics when you're done...sounds promising!

LOL, the cold air intake looks like a schlong!

so premature in your remarks shocon2k, take it easy, of course it's going to be black, you haven't seen the seats that i have made for his bd boy. whatever..here it is painted black, i need to highlight the tubes and wires as well as the headers and head of the engine.

and yes, it does look like a slong, but now these days, what doesn't look like one.

Lookin' good King! You ever thought about painting the body and just opening up the hood? I love the clear bodies, but for some reason, not when they're detailed or pressed bodies. I love the clear lexan look. Not trying to criticize yours at all. It really looks sweet. IMO, it would look better if it was hidden and then revealed when you opened the hood. Or put behind a clear thin lexan body. You've put a lot of detail and time in that engine display. Very nicely done!

i couldn't find anything that would resemble a rotary engine. the real ones are tiny compared to four bangers plus most of the time they are embedded deep with in the engine's bay, under miles of tubes, wires and linkages. I wanted to make it seem like there was somthing there.

thanks for the comments. I will post it when i have it all painted. I did a four banger for my lancer.

here's a pic

i finished the paint today. I was intrigued by the open hood idea. my friend has used a silicon slab to connect the hood to the body so he can open it up. I may do that . either way i am keeping the hood clear when i am a painting just in case.

hope you guys can top me.

hogjowlz 12-20-2002 02:37 PM

how does it handle?

Kingofjapan 12-20-2002 03:30 PM

so much torque.

it's a show car. chances are that i will put a 1.0 in there just for it to move. But otherwise with a 2.2 it handles just the same. I took off the stablis bar because i needed the room. it's really tight under the hood.

any more questiosn??

hogjowlz 12-20-2002 05:25 PM

well its creative and looks pretty real. i personally would use a painted body and try to cut the hood off or use that initial d car but this is your vision i suppose.
