Mini RC Clubs and Events

I have been searching the web in hopes of finding a mini RC club or national event (wishful thinking).

Anyway, I had little or no results.

I did find a link to RC Clubs (not necessarily micro RC though).

This is all off the top of my head mind you, so bear with me.

WHAT I WANT TO DO:

I wad thinking it would be cool to have a local/national event for mini RC owners and fans.
A friend of mine did one once for BMWs and it's now an annual event.

I'm looking to have the first annual event held in Seaside Heights, NJ (since it's close to me and I will be doing alot of the work). ;)
Maybe every year it could be i another state/city or something.

Here are some ideas we could incorporate. Build an insane track that people could come race (Drag, Indy and Nascar styles). Winners would receive some sort of prizes. A section where people could show off their cars and have them judged for:
Best of Show, Most Mods, Newest Creation, Best Paint, Fastest Lap, Longest Running Battery, etc.

Any other ideas? Anything you would like to see?

Ofcourse to pull this off we would need sponsors. If anyone is interested in becoming a sponsor or helping out with anything, or if you just have some cool ideas, please email me or post them here.

FYI - Here's a links page to some big RC clubs.

Oh I forgot to mention...

Seaside Heights is on the Jersey shore (right on the water). There is a boardwalk and ocean to swim in. It is a kinda big place to vacation in NJ. So, if you can't drive here you could possibly get your parents to vacation here around the time of the event.

I was hoping we could pull off the event sometime in July or August. During the summer months so the shore will be packed with people. And, yes ladies...G-strings are legal to wear in Seaside. ;)

That sounds like a great idea. I think it might be hard to get a sponser right out of the gate but if everyone that wanted to be included donated some money???? That would be a good start. But I think you are on the right track. Keep me updated on the progress.

since i'm in NYC an east coast thing sounds good. if the car conventions could lend out a space we could even have a booth in the javits center here in manhattan, set up a track and drive - and ignore all the auto show people lol! of course our sponsors would be there too selling swag.

other than a big event like this, it's hard to get space in the city for a club - did you see the rental rates around here lol.

The Jacob Javits Center isn't too bad of an idea. I think it would cost about $800-1000 for a booth though. :(

I will start working on sponsors for the event next week and see what I can drum up. I think we can actually pull this off. If we have it in Seaside...I have a good chance to get atleast 3 sponsors. I'm basing this on how many people participate in this thread to see if there's a real interest.

I was thinking of raising money like this:

FREE FOR EVERYONE TO ENTER THE EVENT!!!!!

Racing Participants:
Will have an entry fee to enter into the race heats.
3 classes...Newb, Med and Pro. Maybe $5 each...so it's affordable. I'm not looking to profit from it...this is supposed to be fun!!!

Company Sponsors:
Can rent a table to pimp their wares. I have 6 specific people/car companies in mind that may be interested in the opportunity if we get a good attendance. I think if we could get 5 sponsors we would be ok.

Donations:
Anything can be considered a donation...from money to someone to help build the tracks. Maybe someone can offer some free or discounted trophies or other prizes. How about a shirt or sticker company to offer some free or discounts. Anything is helpful.

Food Vendor:
We could get a small percentage of what the vendor pulls in for the day.

I've helped with organizing an event (of this magnitude...lol) before...so I have a good idea of what needs to be done. It's just a matter of getting the participants and sponsors.

Anyone with ideas, comments or donors?

Well when my website "BitOnline" goes up i could have stuff on the site telling about your Event. Another thing, if you need help and have an idea i could probly come up with a logo for shirts and hats and stuff and decals for cars and whatnot. BTW the site should be up when i can get hosting from someone or come up with the money for hosting.

Name the Event

Here's the name I came up...

1st Annual Micro Mayhem

Whatcha think?

Give me feedback and other names for the event.

I guess it will probably have to be according to the sponsor. Something like:

1st Annual Pepsi Mini RC Invitationals
(we can dream can't we?) :)
