Cripple Cap On 27mhz Skyline

please, please, i beg anyone, i dont know where the cap is in my controller, anyone else have the 27mhz skyline(white) and found it?

www.questformadness.com has all the details on pretty much every mod you can do.

bwahahahaha...... http://www.beld.net/~billw/laugh.gif

That's the same answer he got before :D

Note: If someone has the same car as you and has found a cripple cap, it doesn't mean you will have one. It depends on the revision of the board on the controller. The newer controllers do not have a cripple cap.

on ausmicro.com and questformadness.com both pictures are the same as my controler, but the cap isnt there in the same location, this site doesnt help

pakiplaya 12-15-2002 09:46 PM

help?

Obviously, you're not reading my replies.....

if they can cripple the range without the use of a capacitor, then they are not going to use one, that is why older bits have them and some or most newer ones dont. there are other mods you can do to increase the range....

Why are you so hell-bent on removing the crip cap?
It seems it is giving you more trouble than its worth.

The best range mod I have done was simply to increase the length of the stock antenna by re-routing the anntenna to go directly out the back of the PCB, instead of it being routed to the front and then over the PCB. I have a 27MHz S2000 this works great on.

I used to get crap range on my 27 mhz skyline as well (microsizer, USA bit release) so at first I rerouted the antenna like Darthracer did, and that gave me about 6-8 feet of range over the initial 5-6. Then I said screw this and took out that little antenna and soldered an 8 inch 22 guage copper wire, uninsulated, in its place, and put a little loop on top just so it looks extra sexy. That boosted my range to about 20 feet, no joke. Then, I removed the cripple cap from the car itself (be CAREFUL doing this...www.questformadness.com has the EXACT one to remove, and its accurate for all bits and microsizers I believe, not so sure about clones) and that got me about 25-30 feet, depending on where I use the car. Needless to say, I'm quite pleased with the results. My controller did not have a cripple cap, its one of the newer ones. But definately replace the antenna and you'll be happy with what you get.

You calling the rest of us stupid???

The reason we was not being very helpful was because you were going on an asking spree (3 - 4 times of the same question on different threads). Don't say you weren't because i'll dig up the threads for you. We were sick of you. Hell, i'm so sick of you that I know the answer to your headlight mod question but i'm not going to help you anymore. You'll have to wait for the "smarter" people to help.

Have a nice day.

The antenna is not made from Cat5, its just your basic run-of-the-mill 22 guage non-insulated copper wire, can be found at hardware and craft stores for about $3 for a spool. And its rigid enough to stand up by itself, but won't weigh down the car, and can bend easily enough to be practical. Best bang for the buck for your car.

not true.........cat5 or category 5 network cable is a solid copper wire that can be bought at home depot, radio shack or a local computer store. Inside a networking cable, there are 8 category 5 copper wires. so, a foot of network cable actually gives you about 8 feet of copper wire.
