Monster bit

hey all,

I just bought my first bit last week and i am not too impressed. although they are quite quick and really fun to race on tile, they lack the ability to handle carpet.... =p Ive been driving a t-maxx for the past 3 years, so i need offroad capabilities so to speak.

I dont know a lot about hopping up these little guys, but if you had an endless budget what would be a the proper way to make a monster bit with decent speed and good torque that can tackle the toughest of carpets. please provide links to where the mods can be found to..

thanks

You can't compare a t-maxx to a bit, that's not fair. It's true bits are horrible on carpet, I think they were intended for desk racing, so to speak. Anyway, visit quest for madness for a 4x4 mod

There's a pretty interesting 4x4 mod there. http://www.questformadness.com/

Comparing a bit to a T-maxx is like comparing Planet Pluto to the sun. The 2 a WAY DIFFERENT!!! These micro's are intended to be dirven on a nice smooth surface and in a small area. UNlike a t-maxx these are ment for indoors. If you really want a truck get a Wild CHar-g. It's a bit monster truck!!!!! It even has a weapon on it in thoe front. You can see it at the bit char-g site HERE

Hey all,

Thanks for the replies. I'm sorry if i came off wrong, but I am not trying to compare the off-road capabilities of my highly modified t-maxx to a $20 bit. I was just saying that I want the ability to go anywhere in my house without the carpet slowing me down. That is why i posted in the "parts and hop-ups" sections. I just want to know what types of hop-ups are needed to make this a reality. I know it can be done, I've seen many unbelievable modifications in this forum and I would like to contribute to the hobby. I actually plan on tearing up a toy monster truck and using its body and tires, I just need to figure out how to make enough power to make it go and go quick. I really would like to avoid 4wd due to all the extra power needed. I was thinking dual motors, or possible a single high power motor. I also have seen the wild char-g, but i have already bought a bit and dont want to buy another unless I will have serious gains over modifying the bit I already own.

Sorry this post is so long, just wanted to clarify my thread.

Thanks again

Like you said, I've seen some pretty awesome mods, the 4wd concept has been mentioned somewhere in the forums, but hasn't been tried yet ( i think ). The problem is getting a motor to drive the front wheels. If you figured out a way to mod a bit into a 4wd, you'll probably be the first. Anyway, check out QFM for the 4x4 lift mod and other ones. It might give you an idea.

Then it is so...

DakarV,

Thanks for the reply. I definately have a goal now. The only problem is I do not know where to begin. I can work my way around a circuit board pretty well and finding toy parts shouldnt be too hard. my only problem is I dont know what parts/mods will be good. I am basically concerned with gearing, batteries and motors. I am sure I can figure the rest out on my own.

Thanks,

Here's a link that might help, other people in the forum thought of some ideas that might work

This should be helpful

An idea Iv been cookin up

I have seen 4wd bit ideas, and the wild char-Gs, but the way they look really turns me off. I decided to post the this thread because you mentioned the t-maxx, I was thinking about doing the same thing, I would like to creat a 2wd monster, With tires 100% exposed on the outsides of the body, like the t-maxx. This will increase size a little bit. But i think if would be worth it. I was thinking a dual cell and a dual torque motor mod would to the trick to turn larger tires, and tackle carpets...

Make the bits look like a t-maxx or an actual stadium truck would be way to cool. I would be willing to "join forces" with someone on manipulating a plan to make this work.

I didnt really wanna post about this idea cause i wanted to be the first to come up with it, I have seen a lot of people with super big tires, and really high cars, but i wanna go with a body that is still low, and bigger wide set tires... but i cant do it alone, heh

blinnstudios@hotmail.com is my email if you have any ideas or would like to help... I live in japan, so most bit parts are no problem

If you put too big of a tire on the front you will have a hard time getting it to track straight.[trust me on this one]

Since no1's posted about a good motor yet or gearing, I'll just say that the Bitmod1 3.5 motor that I have matched with the 12.1:1 or whatever gears they are (the teal ones) and dual 150 mah batteries will power the 1/2 inch deep carpet in my house almost no problemo.

the secret key to 4wd bits........

well, after reading this post, and after trying to cook up a plan to convert a Bit into a BitBoat, this is what I've come to believe is the key to making them both work..........

U-Joints! if you had U-joints on the front steering, then you could raise the whole chassis and then use the u-joints to connect the motor to the wheels........ not an exact detailed plan, but yall get my point and idea behind it..........

let me know what yall think, i believe it should and will work............l8r

Swavey 01-13-2003 06:05 PM

I figured these would work

1 Attachment(s)
What do you guys think of these? I figured they would give good traction cause they are all rubber, and the rim itself is only slightly different soize then the bit.....

Im interested in this U-joint, draw out a diagram, maybe someone can build it...
