fairlady z w/ NOS
Put a ZZ NOS motor in my fairlady z along with green zz gears and it was FFAASSTT!!!! Now correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the fairlady z come w/ a 2.2 and the NOS is only a 2.35? Even unboosted it was fast and then when boosted I couldnt even control the damn thing..................
|
i find all my zip motors to be faster than they are rated at, and all much faster than the bit motors, my fav motor is the red zip for its torque and all out speed, the nos is quick but doesnt have the punch i want. and best of all the red zip motor is easy to find at any radio shack, and comes with the stock blue motor, and rims for about 8 bucks.
|
Yeah I have two red zip motors, but they are in use so thats why I used the NOS. I'd hate to see the fairlady z w/ the red turbo and the red gears.........

Is it just me or is the FairLady really slow out of the box? Regardless of which rotor/gears I drop in, its like half the speed of my slowest car...when its unboosted.
I guess I just figured it would be a normal speed car with a surge of power boosted to it. |
agreed, but when its boosted ya can't mess w/ it!!
|
lol
True.

do you gents get decent range w/ your fairlady z? mine is nonexistent (3-5 ft). can't locate any cripple cap in the controller and don't want to fry the pcb trying to remove the one from the car. Just wondering if I got a bad car/controller, my other bits (27 and 35mhz) work fine.
|
i did a dual cat5 antenna mod on the car and get about 10+ feet indoors before it stutters. Other than that I know of no crip cap on the car or controller. just a few days ago there was a thread or 2 about this, just search for "350z range" or something of the sort. try the antenna mod though.
|
I get poor range too. I heard there is a crip cap in the controller...one of the threads actually has a picture of its location...try both mods...they're both really easy. I'm just too lazy! :D

i was actually so dissapointed by my fairlady speed unboosted i sold the car to buy a she qi wei knockoff, which is my personal fav. the fairlady boost is kind of a scam, it actually has resistance to motor unboosted, then when u boost it just runs normal power to motor like any other bit. there is 2 advantages to that, one if u need to slow down to corner, the other is if u want to race someone that isnt familiar w/ boost, then u show them how slow it is to get the race, then boost to win. kinda dishonest but hey so is the way the car works anyway , right? If u have the 4 band controller there is a switch on the back that will keep the boost on full time, kinda cool feature!!

Anyways, I tried looking for the cripple capacitor in the controller....no where to be found. Sigh! Ah well... |
