proper gauge wire

i'm wiring up a telescopic antenna, and was wondering what should be the proper (if any) gauge wire to run from the antenna to the chip. i have some spare 16-gauge insulated speaker wire lying around the house, and was curious as to if that would be suitable for this application.

It'd probably work. If it were me, I'd go with some 22 or so.

i'm eventually going to pick up a reem of 22 or so gauge wire.. you don't know how many times i've ripped out the wires from teh charger and the battery compartment.. it's so damn small that the wire keeps snapping.. i'm gonna end up replacing all of those.
