DOA 2.2 motor!
I bought another Z-car at TRU , so I could start my own micro racing team, but the drive motor was totally dead! :(
I thoroughly measured everything with my digital multimeter, battery holds charge OK, steering OK, voltage at motor mount OK, --motor OPEN CIRCUIT!!! I'm going to exchange it tomorrow, but I am really starting question the reliability of the 2.2 motor. Anyone know how long a *good* 2.2 should last? |
where did you get them!!
hey, i am from winnipeg too!
i have been trying to find z-cars where did you find them?? normally a 2.2 motor is supposed to be very reliable. give me an e-mail or add me to MSN! atomiccerealbox@hotmail.com |
I got another car (exchanged) and the car's battery wouldn't charge up, I had to pop the pcb cover off and slide a piece of paper between the battery holder contacts (several times to polish the contacts clean), and that worked!
Toys R us (TRU) on regent, has a bunch, and Zellers (Kildonan place mall) has a few, and the Radioshack (same mall) has some other clone (the "bullet" packaged ones) Wal-mart had the bullet clone, but sold out already. |
You can get Z-Cars at hobbypeople.net. I got 2! Hehe. They're very cool.

What really dies in a micro motor?
I haven't pulled a micro motor apart, but Im curious as to the constuction of the armature/brushes in these things. I would like to know if anyone has tried to service a "dead" motor?
